MUSIC VIDEO: Sixth Edit

This is my latest edit of my video, featuring the new logo at the start (so now there are titles for both the name of the artist as well as the name of the song) and the two animated segments I made. I have three remaining animated segments to make, and when these are done, my video should be finished.

To help give a better sense of brand identity/digital convergence to my website, I designed this logo in the same style as the titles that are featured in my music video.

I then added this logo to the top of my website homepage. Here is the before and after (as you can see I kept the same colour scheme).

I also updated one of my merchandise photos with this logo. Here is the new picture on my website.

WEBSITE: Update With New Album Cover

Using my new album cover, I re-made my merch photos and added these to my website, as well as adding the new album cover to the 'Boys will be bugs out now!' section of my website. I also added a link to an LGBTQ+ charity below the merch which is supported by my artist - which should engage my socially conscious target demographic, as well as anchor the protest aspect of my video and website.

Following up on feedback from my peers, I decided to change my album cover, since the original picture wasn’t great. I decided to do an illustration of my artist, similar to the ones featured in the animated segments of my video, based off the original album cover image. This gives me more control over the design of the album cover, as well as adding another aspect of digital convergence to my products. Here is my new design.

I have added the merchandise photos to my website to make a merch store, this is what it looks like at the moment.

The 'Fin Pen' on the bottom left is featured in my music video, and is an Easter Egg that fans would likely notice if they recognised it from the video.

MUSIC VIDEO: Plan to Finish Video

My most recent edit of my music video, edit 5, is a mix of the footage I took over the holidays and the animatic I made in August so I could get a better idea of how the finished product would look. Due to the circumstances surrounding Coronavirus, I wasn't able to get all of the footage I wanted, so currently the animatic is the only thing that can go in place of the footage I was unable to get. Because of this, I have decided that I will be finishing off this animatic into something that looks more like a finished animation, by making the frames neater and adding colour so that my finished product looks more like an actual finished product with a clear narrative rather than an unfinished music video. The scenes I will be animating are:

- The scene set in the science lab - this will have to be changed to be set outside of the school (similar to the last scene) since I changed my original narrative slightly so it would work better with what I could film under COVID restrictions. I will first make a new animatic for this scene. 

- The scene with the text messages - the only thing that needs to be changed here is the text messages on the phones, which is easy to change.

- The scene for 'the other boys at school think it's cool to hate your parents' - I will be changing this scene to be set at the bus stop outside of school (this shouldn't be very complicated since I should only need to change the background) so that there is continuity between the real life footage and the animated scenes.

- The short 'I just turned 14' clip - since this clip is so short I might even be able to animate the lip syncing.

- The final scenes from the phone call to the end of the video - nothing should need to be changed here.

WEBSITE: Album Cover

I wanted to create an album cover for my website to help promote my artists music. I started with this image of my artist and put it into Procreate so I could edit it.

First, I edited out some of the lines in the background to make it more simplistic, and then I started adding a design around the main image. I used a repeated pattern around the main image featuring colours from the photo - black, white, and a pop of red. Next, I added the title of the album 'Boys Will Be Bugs' - in the same style text as in the music video (digital convergence), and I added a white outline. This is what it looked like.

I wasn't very happy with this design originally, since the text was too hard to read (even when I changed it to white), and it looked too crowded, but I did want to keep the repeated pattern design around my main image. To make it less crowded, I removed the text from the top, made the main image larger, and the surrounding design smaller. I also moved the text onto the image so it was easier to read.

This is the final result, and I'm very happy with it. It's less crowded, I like the colour palette, and the text is a lot easier to read.

These are some merchandise photos I made for my website. I used pictures of my artist and edited some designs I had made onto his t shirts. Since the artist is the one wearing the merchandise it should give fans a sense of connection with the artist, and encourage them to buy the merch. I used the app Procreate to edit all of the pictures.

This is my first edit for my website. Although it doesn't feature much at the moment, it gives an idea of the layout I'm going for (music video at the top of the homepage, followed by pictures and promotion for the new album). Eventually, I will be adding merchandise pictures and other things to the homepage, and I will be making a second page about the artist.
